SDMO Miami walks for Autism

On January 23rd 2016, the SDMO team in Miami gathered to participate in a charity event, which was the. This yearly event took place at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, and close to 20.000 people participated to the Walk.

The idea was initiated by Jennifer Sequeira, Sales Administrative Assistant. Indeed, the team had already participated to various charity events, such as food drives, but it was the first time that the SDMO team registered for the Walkabout Autism.

As everyone want to help the community the best they can, the event was a good occasion to prove it!Moreover, this event is all the more important given that Jennifer Sequeira’s son, Chris, has Autism : ”I have lived through the struggles as a parent and seen the struggles he goes through as he tries to conquer obstacles that for any other child can be something very simple such as socializing. I have looked for various programs but found that they are very limited in South Florida. This charity provides much aid to the few programs that are available which is why it was very important for me that we as a team participate in this event.”

40+ participants, composed of SDMO employees and their families, were present that day, and succeeded to raise $ 560.00, for a total of $ 485.589 of donations raised by all the teams present that day!An excellent score, which will be very useful for the local autism community. We hope that it will be even higher next year!
